So, I’ve been doing an independent study lighting thing this term, which has basically allowed me to play around with all the lights I want, and play in the studio, and just try new things. This was a shoot I’d been thinking about for a while, and I had based off some sketches I’d done a while back of a modernized, fashion-y ‘Wizard of Oz’ look. So I got some very willing models together (who luckily put up with my crazy ideas and were willing to try out a lot of different things) and we did this shoot a few weeks ago. We were sadly missing our Scarecrow due to scheduling difficulties, but it still ended up being a lot of fun. Here are some of my favorite shots.
The Tin Man

Tin Man Gets a Heart
Zoe was the lovely Tin Man. She even brought an axe, which was a lot of fun to play with. Fun fact: the heart was hastily sewed by me the night before when I realized I had completely spaced finding a suitable prop. Luckily I had an oversized red shirt that I was never going to wear that I didn’t mind cutting up.
Doing the makeup for the Tin Man was especially fun, but at the same time super challenging. The silver stuff I got was… deceptive. It looked like your basic eye makeup, and turned out to be something akin to goop. And silver paint just seemed excessive. However, after playing around and applying an insane amount of the goop and lots of shimmery glitter, I ended up loving the look. A lot.
Also, Zoe brought these beyond awesome glasses that I completely fell in love with. To me, it’s like some assassin-robot with killer fashion sense. I could totally see this in some space-age movie like ‘Blade Runner’ or something. Anyway, definitely my favorite Tin Man outfit of the bunch.
